Golf Tournament

The Dante Club Golf Tournament will be held at Greenwood Golf Course on Sunday July 10. Tee-off time is at 10:00 a.m. The entry fee is $95.00 and it includes green fees, cart, a snack and steak dinner at the Club. Registration and payment are due by July 1st. Please contact the Club or Renzo Salustro for more information.

Pot Luck Picnic

Dante Club Ladies Association Pot luck picnic will be held in Canatara Park on Thursday July 14 at 11:00 a.m. All members are encouraged to come out and enjoy a day of fun, friendship and good food! For more information contact Giovanna at 542-1932.

River Cruise

Duc d'Orleans River Cruise. Everyone is welcome to come out and join us for a beautiful summer evening cruise on the picturesque St. Clair River. Congratulations volunteers/exhibitors/sponsors for Girls Rock 2011. Everyone had a great time! Over 500 people joined the Girls event and we had so much great stuff going on! We donated over $1000 to St. Clair Child & Youth thanks to all the raffle prizes and donated goodies. Mike Weir also donated $1500 in honour of Girls Rock!

The Renaissance Experience at the Imperial Theatre in Sarnia. Performance by Francesca la Colla, a talented Italian vocalist will be performing jazz, blues and pop music. Ms. la Colla was a top finalist in Italy's annual Sanremo Music Festival. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a night of fashion, entertainment and wine-tasting. Tickets are $50.00 / person available at the Imperial Theatre, Sarnia.

Dante Club's First Annual Girls Rock Event. Calling all girls, sisters, mothers, aunts: you are invited to join us as we provide this community service in a unique format for girls ages 10-19, in an effort to boost their self-esteem. Exhibitors will share information about topics relevant to girls of all ages such as healthy lifestyle and cooking, education, nutrition, fitness, make-up, jewellery, health/skin/hair care and more. Representatives from various local organizations will also be on hand to offer suggestions for Sarnia,community support and where to go for help if needed. Complimentary refreshments, a professional DJ, excellent decorations, donations from local businesses, free demonstrations and a free goodie bag for participants. The proceeds from the raffle table will go directly to St. Clair Child and Youth. Plan on attending this excellent event!

Sweet Lemons 2 - International Writings with a Sicilian Accent, an anthology of prose and poetry, edited by Venera Fazio and Delia De Santis
Another Trail of Comet Dust: Poems Pulled from Earth - a poetry book by Lambton County writer Debbie Okun Hill. Local and out of town writers and poets will read from their works-names to be announced later.

The Ladies Association will be holding its annual Bazaar and Bake Sale on Saturday, April 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will also be numerous vendor tables with various items and merchandise for sale. All members of the Dante Club are encouraged to donate baked goods for the bake sale. Items can be dropped off at the Club on Friday, April 1st or early Saturday morning. Please come and support the Ladies Association, share in some spaghetti and meatballs, fresh baked goods, focaccia, pizza, turnovers, ciambelle, stuffed shells and don't forget to check out the vendors' tables. This is the major fundraiser for the Ladies Association; please make every effort to support it.

The Marriage of Figaro

The Marriage of Figaro is coming to Sarnia's Imperial Theatre on Saturday. March 19th at 8:00 p.m. The cast consists of young singers currently enrolled in the University of Western Ontario's Music Department and is directed by Theodore Baerg, Professor of voice, opera and music theatre at the University of Western Ontario.

Mozart's Figaro is a comic opera, composed in 1786 in the new style of opera buffa or comic opera, which had recently come to prominence in Italy. The libretto is written and sung in Italian and it has been claimed that the finale of this work provides “a fitting end to a masterpiece of comic opera which has never been equaled.”

The Consolato Generale d'Italia in Toronto has established an informal Committee with the purpose of honouring the individual memory of the many Italian immigrants who, from the post-war period to the end of the past century, lost their lives due to job accidents, while working to provide a better future for their families and build this country. The Committee intends to collect, by the end of this year, the names of all the Italians who have died as a result of workplace accidents, and with the family's consent, to engrave their names on a memorial to be erected within the first six months of 2011. Anyone who knows of a relative or acquaintance having perished due to a workplace accident between 1945 and 2000, is asked to submit the

The Executive thanks all those members who were able to participate in the July pot luck picnic, it was a fun event enjoyed by all those present! Special thanks also to the ladies who helped bake the ciambelle and crostoli for the garage sale, as well as to the ladies who helped out that day.
