The Marriage of Figaro

The Marriage of Figaro is coming to Sarnia's Imperial Theatre on Saturday. March 19th at 8:00 p.m. The cast consists of young singers currently enrolled in the University of Western Ontario's Music Department and is directed by Theodore Baerg, Professor of voice, opera and music theatre at the University of Western Ontario.

Mozart's Figaro is a comic opera, composed in 1786 in the new style of opera buffa or comic opera, which had recently come to prominence in Italy. The libretto is written and sung in Italian and it has been claimed that the finale of this work provides “a fitting end to a masterpiece of comic opera which has never been equaled.”
